CLUB RULES

                              

Please note that these rules are not exhaustive and can change at any time.

These rules have been derived to ensure that all members practice the martial art they have undertaken in clean, safe, and enjoyable way and can do so with the knowledge that all other members abide by the same ruling.

Rules

 

Personal hygiene

    1. Clean hands and feet
      1. To prevent the transfer of dirt to other members clothing and mat.
    1. Training Gi to be clean and odour free,
      1.  Bad smells are not pleasant for fellow students.
    1. For members who sweat excessively a clean towel must be brought and used when necessary.
      1. Sweating onto a fellow student not always appreciated.
    1. Finger and toenails must be cut short
      1. To prevent injury to self and fellow students.
    1. De-odorant must be used
      1. Bad smells are not pleasant for fellow students.
      2. Notification often offends and is embarrassing for all.
    1. Make all attempts to make yourself acceptable for training with other students.
    2. Feet to be covered if any foot ailment is known, any ailment has to be declared prior to stepping onto the mat.
      1. To prevent cross contamination.

Injuries

    1. Must be reported prior to training.
      1. To prevent further injury and promote healing.

 

Safety

    1. No jewellery to be worn.
      1. Can cause injury to self or fellow students
      2. Prevent loss or damage.
    1. Protective equipment is advised but not compulsory. This is by student choice and any resulting injury is down to the student and not Combat Ju Jitsu Wales.
    2. Wedding rings or rings that cannot be removed must be covered.

Respect

    1. In the dojo for all fellow students and the art itself.
    2. Bow in and out of the dojo.
    3. The level of knowledge / experience / ability of your sensei, training partner or new student.
    4. No bullying policy.

Mat rules

    1. Ensure toilet breaks are taken prior to class starting.
    2. Wait to be bowed onto and leaving the mat.
    3. Feet to be wiped clean before stepping onto the mat.
    4. No shoes to be placed or to be worn on the mat.
      1. To prevent dirt /grit / glass being brought onto the mat
      2. To prevent damage to mats.
    1. No drinks allowed onto the mat.
      1. To prevent slippages
      2. Some drinks become sticky when dries out and cause damage that could degrade the mat.
    1. Any spillages of blood / sweat must be cleaned up immediately
      1. To prevent slippages and cross contamination.
    1. No swearing
      1. Bad practice
      2. Sets poor example to others
      3. Offends others
    1. No loss of temper
      1. To prevent any bad feeling amongst members.
      2. To prevent injury to members.
    1. To immediately report damage to any equipment to the teaching staff.
      1. To prevent injury to any member
    1. Unruly behaviour in the dojo, running around and other such misdemeanours will not be tolerated.
    2. Do not copy any techniques you have not been shown by the chief instructor.
    3. Try to be on time at the start of the training session as it may disrupt the other students if the training has started.
    4. No shouting except in case of emergency where injury has occurred or is about to occur.
    5. Instructors must be referred to as Sensei
    6. Students to line up in order of grade from left to right from the sensei’s perspective. Adults on the left cadets on the right.
    7. Students to say “oous” when dismissed by their sensei to go a practice the move demonstrated.

Clothing

    1. Ensure correct clothing is worn, if you do not have a Gi please wear clothing with a long sleeve and long trousers, this will reduce mat burns.
    2. Gi’s are hard wearing and are constructed for purpose, any other clothing worn by any member is his or her own responsibility and any damage occurs then this is the wearers fault only.
    3. Plain white judo Gi to be worn.
    4. Club Badges only
    5. Clothing advertising or promoting other clubs must not be worn. Logo’s can be covered. If no other clothing is available then permission must be sort from the head instructor prior to stepping onto the mat and can only be worn for that lesson. This ruling to be highlighted to the student concerned.
    6. If a student is cross training then they have to wear the appropriate Combat Jujitsu obi / belt and must be tipped with the colour of their

grade in there primary style. This is to show to other students their abilities.

Licences

    1. A NAKMAS licence must be purchased at maximum one month from start date.
    2. Passport photograph required. No other type permitted.
    3. The responsibility for keeping the valid licence is the students.

 

Insurance

    1. As part of the purchase of a NAKMAS licence an insurance policy is also started. It is the holder’s responsibility to ensure that this insurance policy is valid.
    2. The insurance policy runs on an annual basis and requires renewal.
    3. A premium will be charged to renew this policy and is the responsibility of the policyholder / parent of the policyholder.
    4. Policy renewals have to be acquired prior to the expiry date to allow continuous and uninterrupted training.
    5. Insurance policies are required to be valid for any grading purposes.

Spectators

    1. Must be sat / stand in a designated area.
    2. Must not step onto the mat.
    3. Must not be present when weapons are being demonstrated.

 

Parents / Guardians

    1. Must ensure that the club rules are read to their children or children in their charge.
    2. Ensure that their children stick to the rules.

Instructors

    1. Must not demonstrate weapon work in front of cadets / under 18’s.

Medical issues

    1. Medical issues must be declared prior to commencement of training.
    2. Any medical condition that can be exaggerated through the training undertaken, then doctor’s permission must be given to the head instructor. A copy must be taken and kept by the club secretary.
